Oven Roasted Turkey with Spicy Rub
Old school meets new school with this classic (now tangy) dinner centerpiece staple.
A little savory and a little spicy, this rub will make it impossible to for guests to not gobble it up in one sitting.
Ingredients
One Fresh Turkey
Rub Ingredients:
1 tbsp. Coarse ground black pepper
2 tbsp. Kosher Salt
2 tbsp. Ground paprika
1 tbsp. Onion powder
1 tbsp. Garlic powder
½ tbsp. Dry rubbed sage
¾ tbsp. Colman's Mustard powder
½ tsp. Cayenne powder
½ cups packed dark brown sugar
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Mix all the rub ingredients together thoroughly.
Take the giblets (yuck) out of the turkey and wash the turkey inside and out. Remove any excess fat and pat that bird down to get it as dry as you can.
Place the turkey in a large roasting pan. Liberally season the inside and outside of the turkey with dry rub – don’t be shy! Tie the legs together with string and tuck the wing tips under the body of the turkey.
Roast the turkey about 2 1/2 hours, or until the juices run clear when you cut between the leg and the thigh. Remove the turkey to a cutting board and cover with aluminum foil; let rest for 20 minutes.
Slice the turkey and serve.
Serve with a side of Colman’s Prepared Mustard Jar or Squeezy if you want a bit more heat.
